Ljubljana

This morning we left at 8:30 and said goodbye to Zagreb and Croatia as we crossed into Slovenia. The scenery changed as we passed by quaint little towns with the church prominently perched on the hilltop. Tamara gifted each of us with a wooden red heart that is a part of old Croatian heritage  that is a symbol of love and affection.

We arrived in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, around 10:30. We went first to the hotel to leave our bags and meet up with our guide, Rok. We left from the hotel on our walking tour. It felt very relaxed as this city was less busy and most of our walk was through pedestrian areas.

We walked through the University area and saw the National and University Library, designed by Jože Plečnik.

We strolled through the Jewish quarter, the main square, along the river and crossed the Bridge of four dragons.

We also saw the Church of St Nicholas.

Our tour ended at 1:00 and we had the rest of the day free. Everyone headed off to eat, shop and explore this very beautiful city.
